Keep Taxes Low
This is the top priority in my campaign. We must keep East Haven an affordable community to live and raise a family. The State is a financial mess and we need to protect our residents on the local level. I will keep taxes as low as possible and grow the grand list of taxable property.
Economic Development is the solution and I will work everyday to attract new businesses. I will help to fill the empty storefronts and vacant land. I will begin a program to upgrade businesses and residences at the west end of Main Street, Route 80 and Hemingway Avenue. I will be a friend to small business.
One of the first things a family considers when moving into a new town, are taxes and the quality of the education system. As Mayor, it will no longer be “us versus them” between the interests of the town and the board of education. I will be a partner in educating our children. I want to bring BIG IDEAS. Not all kids are meant for college. I will work with the board of education and manufacturers to create better opportunities to develop skills in manufacturing. Preparing and encouraging East Haven High School graduates with the qualifications to land a good job from day one. I want to bring higher education to our town. Many of the surrounding towns have universities or trade schools.
West Haven has the University of New Haven and Yale satellite campus. North Haven has a Quinnipiac satellite campus. Branford has multiple tech and trade campuses. East Haven deserves a university campus in town.
